Heli Hiking

June until early October
Our five landing sites offer a range of terrain choices and allow us to be dropped off at one spot and picked up from another. We have meadows, small creeks with a tiny waterfall, grassy ridge walks, a mountain saddle with a big view towards Banff National Park, and a site with an old native medicine wheel that offers our highest ridge hikes. We can make the most of your day, by listening to what you’re looking for, keeping you comfortable in varying weather conditions, going to the best spots for a hike to a peak, a short hike on a ridge, or even a challenging descent to a lake and back up again.

Hike and sail in Mallorca, Spain!

Trek Wild Chile

April 2025
From the lovely Jeinemeni Valley in the north to the stunning and historic Chacabuco Valley to the south, we will travel with a handful of Chilean guides and porters from Patagonia Huts and our 2017 trek. These men and women will no doubt once again enrich our travels with their Chilean style as well as lighten our loads of tents, food, fuel and cookware.

Italian Dolomites Marmolada Circuit

September 2025
Meet our small group in Bolzano, and begin the next day with an hour’s walk above the lovely town of Selva to lunch at Rifugio Juac. After two hikes and nights in Selva, we’ll head out for 8 days of walking town to town around our circuit. Ride cable cars up high to lush mountain trails, hike among towering spires, and often stop for a cold beer and freshly prepared pasta lunch on the terrace of a mountain rifugio on our way to the next town. "Our group could not stop talking about the incredible day with Martha, deep into the evening. We are all inspired and glowing- my nephew announced over dinner that he had a truer and deeper understanding of Canada after his time out with you. Thank you for being our host and leading us with such grace and knowledge." I.B., California
"My husband and I, along with our two teenaged sons have had two amazing adventures in the Canadian Rockies with Martha. We flew into each location and hiked from one beautiful valley to the next to the next over 4 or 5 days each trip. Martha provided all the gourmet meals, and we even toasted our first nights with wine! She guided our boys in how to read maps and plan the day’s trek. There were no existing trails, only mountain goat tracks and the natural landscape.

Martha is so accommodating and positive. She is a generous guide who ensures that the hiking pace accommodates all the participants. As the slowest member of the team, I never felt that I was holding up our party or being pushed to go faster than I could safely achieve. She led us in meditation and yoga in gorgeous fields of wild flowers in mountain passes, putting us in tune with nature and our inner selves. Yes, even teenaged boys were into this! Her knowledge of the local flora and fauna is inspiring and added depth to our experience in the wild back country.

Together with our family’s ethos, these ventures into the mountains with Martha created an awareness of the natural world and our place in it for our boys that has had resounding effects on their life paths."

"We found Martha’s Heli Hikes through an internet search when looking for accessible mountaintop wedding venues. Knowing we could have 18 of our closest friends and family join us for an experience in the backcountry that they wouldn’t have otherwise experienced, was the icing on the cake. Martha was very easy to communicate with during the planning process, and made changes to the ceremony and the plans of the day that suited us. She gave us lots of tips that really helped us make our decisions. The day of, she was organized and ensured the safety of everyone on the trip. She brought along a second guide to help out with all our guests and he was very friendly and full of great stories. After the ceremony we hiked down to a picnic spot near a creek, where we enjoyed the company of some sheep. And then we made our way down to a lower pick up point in a beautiful meadow. Our guests have not stopped raving about what a great time they had. All in all we had a great time and would recommend it to anyone wanting to experience the backcountry without having to hike for 2 days to get there." Justine P. 2023
